The present invention relates to the field of polyethylene pipes, in particular to a polyethylene pipe for gas and a preparation method thereof. The raw materials for preparation at least include: 80–95 parts of polyolefin resin, 5–20 parts of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, 0.6–1.8 parts of lubricant, 0.1–0.3 parts of silane compound, 0.2–0.5 parts of antioxidant, and 0.05–0.2 parts of antistatic agent. Components are optimally selected according to performance requirements to obtain a polymer material with excellent creep resistance, cracking resistance, aging resistance and chemical resistance. When applied to gas pipelines, this polymer material can alleviate stress cracking caused by chemical and physical effects even if scratches occur during pipeline transportation or installation. Compared with conventional pipelines, it exhibits excellent creep resistance and storage stability after long-term service. In addition, the addition of antioxidants and antistatic agents, in cooperation with the base resin, further enhances the environmental resistance of the polymer material.
