A method for preparing a high-performance lithium battery separator

The invention relates to a preparation method of high-performance lithium battery separators. Polyethylene is compounded or reacted with cage-type polysilsesquioxane (POSS) during polymerization to synthesize composite polyethylene with a weight-average molecular weight of 200,000–600,000. The composite polyethylene is extruded into thin sheets by a twin-screw extruder. The sheets are subjected to uniaxial or biaxial stretching at high temperature for pore formation and film forming. After high-temperature heat setting, the stretched polyethylene film is slit and wound. Compared with the prior art, the prepared lithium battery separator has controllable porosity and pore size for improved overall performance. The production process is solvent-free, environmentally friendly, energy-saving, safe and low-cost.
