The present invention discloses a detergent pod containing a thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol film and a preparation method thereof, mainly solving the problem that interactions between detergent components in the prior art reduce washing efficiency. The detergent pod comprises a packaging film and a detergent encapsulated in a cavity formed by the packaging film, characterized in that the packaging film at least comprises a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol film comprising, in parts by weight: a) 60–95 parts of polyvinyl alcohol; b) 5–30 parts of a thermoplastic agent. The thermoplastic agent is selected from dipropylene glycol and at least one combination selected from ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, pentaerythritol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, tripropylene glycol, tetrapropylene glycol and diglycerol ether. The present invention effectively solves existing problems and can be used as a packaging material for detergent pods.
