The invention provides an easily tearable thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol film as well as its preparation method and application. The film is prepared by thermoplasticizing polyvinyl alcohol with a plasticizer and performing longitudinal stretching. The film exhibits anisotropic properties with a Hermans orientation factor greater than 0.5, a tensile strength ratio of longitudinal to transverse direction higher than 8, and a tear strength ratio of transverse to longitudinal direction greater than 3.5. Meanwhile, it possesses excellent optical properties and can be applied in adhesive tapes and other fields.
